Pastured Chicken Shares for June 2020
Pastured Chicken Share-Have Forms Turned in by April 1st
Fed transitional grain. I raise my birds on rotating pasture to provide them freedom of movement. This also helps provide them all the forage and bugs that chickens need to stay strong and healthy. Rotation helps provide fresh pasture on a regular basis without wearing out the land while the chickens provide natural fertilizer.
$4.50/lb per bird. Deposit is 10.00 per bird. Average weight per bird can range from 4-8 pounds with the average price calculated to be at $18-$36 per bird.
Sign up by April 1st. You will pay the remaining amount based on weight at the pick up time and need to be picked up the day of harvest on my property.
Cornish X chickens may take 8-10 weeks to grow before harvest time. I hope to harvest these chickens the weekend of June 20th, 2020 Communication will occur about a month, maybe earlier as to when pick up time(s) may be available. When you pick up your birds, please bring some kind of cooler or rubbermaid container with ice to store your chickens in on the way home. I will provide a bag for each bird.
Share members are more than welcome to come and participate on the day of harvesting. I will be more than happy to teach you all the things you need to know about butchering and processing your chicken. If you do decide to participate in processing, please bring the following items: rubber gloves, an apron, clothes that you don't mind getting dirty in, goggles, and if you have some sharp knives.
