Guess who started laying eggs? My lady geese made a nest in the hoop house and have laid about six eggs so far. Their totall broodiness hasn't kicked in yet so the geese let some of the eggs get so cold they cracked. I just brought the rest inside for Bob and I to eat. Goose eggs are pretty huge, I can split one with Bob and that will fill me up. They also have a little more of a creamy texture than chicken eggs.
In the future I plan on taking the next dozen or so eggs they lay and incubate them myself. Then I"ll let the geese try and hatch out their own babies. This is how I plan on raising geese for my CSA goose share this year. They will live their lives full circle on this farm.
On a completely different note, my art room in the basement keeps on getting changed up every so often. I had to re-install my small wood stove in the basement to keep warm. Bob found a bigger wood stove, but for some reason there isn't suction up the stove pipe and the basement get smoked out. So I put my little Glo Fire back in and have been staying comfortable downstairs. As you can see Thulsa the cat enjoys the rocker and wood stove combo! Having my own space is important to me. It is where I can go to concentrate, be creative, or just relax with little or no interruption. Even though I can do all of those things around the house and Bob, sometimes you just need that extra space. So I have been working on a painting, making jewelry, staying organized and fine tuning my web page. It feels good!!!
